Similar to other Totally Chlorine Free diapers on the market, individual components of our diapers are biodegradable (approximately 35 to 40 percent), but like most, they are not fully biodegradable.
Even diapers that are “biodegradable” would be unable to biodegrade in landfills which is where most diapers end up. Normal composting conditions require air and sun (not trash bags) to be able to completely break down within a “reasonable period of time.”
And although our diapers are chlorine, fragrance, phthalate and dye-free, designing a diaper that is fully compostable/biodegradable that is also a high performing diaper is one of our biggest challenges.
